High Commissioner Pranay Verma inaugurated an India Pavillion at the Textile Trade Fair in Dhaka on January 11, 2023. The four-day trade fair will see the participation of more than 80 Indian Textile Manufacturers under the aegis of Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Surat (SGCCI). A variety of products made of natural and synthetic yarns, blended fibres, polyester wool among others are being displayed at the exhibition.

Textile and garment sector is an important component of India- Bangladesh trade ties. India is one of the leading partner in the supply chain of readymade garment sector in Bangladesh. At the same time, Bangladesh’s export of Readymade garments (RMG) goods to India have grown significantly in recent years, with a 70% increase in 2021 alone despite the Covid pandemic.
