Ms. Chhanda Chakraborty at Kabi Sufia Kamal Auditorium, Bangladesh National Museum, Shahbagh,

​          IGCC is organising a Musical Evening by prominent Nazrul Geeti exponent of Bangladesh, Ms. Chhanda Chakraborty, at Kobi Sufia Kamal Auditorium, Bangladesh National Museum, Shahbagh, Dhaka at 6.30 PM on 26 August, 2017.

Ms. Chhanda Chakraborty is a distinguished exponent of Nazrul Geeti in Bangladesh who has trained under musical stalwarts like Ustad Ratan Adhikari and Ustad Sudhin Das in Nazrul Geeti and Pandit Ananda Chakraborty, Ustad Towhidul Islam and Ustad Anil Saha in Classical Music. She has an M.Phil degree in Music from University of Dhaka. She is a “Special Grade” artist of Nazrul Geeti in both Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television. She regularly performs in various TV channels and stages in Bangladesh.

Ms. Chakraborty has released several music albums including “Desh o Manusher Gaan” (2006), ‘Prothom Moner Mukul” (2008), “Jaha kichu Momo” (2009), “Smritir Bagichai” (2012) released from India, “Ekush Theke Bijoy” (2012), “Bhiru a Moner Koli” (2012) and duet album “Mora Chinu Ekela” of Nazrul’s songs with singer Subir Nandi on 118th birth anniversary of Kazi Nazrul Islam (2017). She was playback singer for Nazrul songs in documentary film “Chattograme Nazrul” released by Nazrul Institute in 2006.

Ms. Chhanda Chakraborty has received many awards since childhood. She is the proud recipient of “Nobin o Protisruthishil Shilpi Sammanona” from the Nazrul Academy in 2006, “Jatiyo Nazrul Samaj Padak - 2009” from Jatiyo Nazrul Samaj, and “Chhayanir Guni Shilpi Sammanona - 2012” from Chhayanir. Her musical album “Prothom Moner Mukul” was nominated for the 5th Citycell – Channel I Music Awards in the Best Nazrul Geeti category. Ms. Chhanda Chakraborty was part of the Bangladesh Government’s cultural delegation that visited India to participate in the India-Bangladesh joint celebrations of the 90th Anniversary of the publication of “Bidrohi” by Kazi Nazrul Islam in July 2012. She is presently working as a Guest teacher Assistant Professor at Government Music College, Dhaka, and Nazrul Sangeet teacher at Nazrul Institute, Dhaka.
