On the occasion of ‘Vijay Divas’, IGCC organises an ‘Evening of Recitation by Dr. Sahadat Hossain Nipu and Songs by Ms. Kamalika Chakraborty’ at Kabi Sufia Kamal Auditorium, Bangladesh National Museum, Shahbagh, Dhaka at 6.30pm onTuesday, 12 December 2017

         

On the occasion of ‘Vijay Divas’, Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre is organising an ‘Evening of Recitation by Dr. Sahadat Hossain Nipu and Songs by Ms. Kamalika Chakraborty’ at Kobi Sufia Kamal Auditorium, Bangladesh National Museum,  Shahbagh, Dhaka at 6.30pm onTuesday, 12 December 2017 

Dr. Sahadat Hossain Nipu is an elocutionist, producer of theatre, writer and researcher. He studied M.A in Drama at Rabindra Bharati University through ICCR scholarship, and got his Doctorate from Bardhaman University. He was trained under famous theatre personalities in India, namely, Mr. Kumar Ray, Mr. Bivash Chakrovorty, and Mr. Manoj Mitra. He also got training in elocution from the famous Indian elocutionist Mr. Pradip Ghosh.

He has taken out 25 audio CD’s and written 7 research books and 12 poetry and rhyme collections. He is a special grade artist of Bangladesh Television and Betar. He anchored a BTV program titled ‘Manchakatha o Sangskrity’ and is currently anchoring a regular monthly show ‘Kabitar Digdiganta’ in the same channel. He is also the director and anchor of a recitation based programme in Bangladesh Betar. He is a trainer in elocution in Nazrul Institute and also Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. 

He has received several awards in India, Rupashi Bangla Purashkar 2012, Swabhoomi Purashkar 2002, Atindra Sahitya Purashkar 2003 etc. In Bangladesh he has received the Rishit Shah Cement Award 2003 etc. He is working as a Deputy Director in Bangla Academy. 

Ms. Kamalika Chakraborty is an Indian singer married to a Bangladeshi national and is now settled here. She has specialized in Nazrul Geeti and also sings Rabindra Sangeet, adhunik and folk songs. She has learnt Nazrulgeeti from Ms. Sangeeta Bose, the disciple of the eminent Nazrul singer Late Dr. Anjali Mukhopadhyay in West Bengal and has a 6 yr diploma certificate from the Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh, India. She has also trained in Hindustani classical vocal music and  light music from eminent music gurus of India, namely, Pandit Dinanath Mishra, Pt. Ajay Chakraborty, Ms. Haimanti Shukla and Kalyan Sen Barat. 

Ms. Kamalika has given solo performances in prominent TV channels in India and Bangladesh. She has also performed in important stages and festivals in India, namely, Rabindra Sadan, Haldia Utsav. Dooars Utsav, Bankura Bishnupur Parjatan Mela etc. In Bangladesh also, she has given stage performances at Bangla Academy, Shilpakala Academy, Chanel I Rabindra & Nazrul Mela etc. 

Her first music album is on Rabindra Sangeet by Raga Music. She has sung in the music video ‘Bongokonyar Mukh’ (about Sheikh Hasina and her father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman) for which she received a lot of praise. It was shown on TV channels on 15 August 2017.
