​​1. Indira Gandhi Culture Centre is organising a musical evening by Mrs. Bulbul Mahalanobish at 6:00 PM on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the IGCC, House No. 35, Road No. 24, Gulshan-1, Dhaka.

2. The former Southeast University Chairperson for the Department of Bengali Language and Literature, Mrs. Bulbul Mahalanobish is better known as a versatile singer and writer.

3. During Bangladesh\'s Liberation War in 1971, Mrs. Bulbul Mahalanobish was a prominent singer of Shwadhin Bangla Betar Kendra, where she also played the leading female character in "Jallader Darbar", an extremely popular episodic radio play written by Kalyan Mitra. As a member of the "Shwadhin-Bangla Betar Kendra Music Squad". She has performed in numerous locations, where the collected proceeds were presented to the Bangladesh Government.

4. She was born in Comilla to a well respected and progressive family of Bikrampur, in March 10, 1953. Her father, Late Arun Chandra Mahalanobish, and mother, Late Bashonti Mahalanobish, both were cultural and open-minded persons.

5. She had started learning music from her childhood. The mentors were Shudhin Das, Sheikh Lutfar Rahman, Altaf Mahmud, Nitai Roy, Anjoli Roy, Shukhendu Chakravorty, and later on, Pandit Bareen Majumder.

6. Ever since she was a high school student, Bulbul Mahalanobish had been involved with the progressive, cultural movement of the country. She believes that a healthy practice of our culture is what will progress the nation towards prosperity. She has involved herself in both music and literature for many years. She has received numerous awards and distinctions in music, recitation and literature. She received the "Ambassador\'s Award" for playing an integral role in the cultural practice of Bangladeshis in the United Arab Emirates.

7. She is the current Finance Secretary–Bangladesh National Poetry Council; General Secretary–Rabindra Academy; Vice President–Nazrul Sangeet Shilpi Porishad; Member–Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Sangshad and Publication Secretary–Bangladesh-India Friendship Society. She has published nine books which include collections of rhymes, poems, travel stories, Liberation War memoirs, Literary Compositions etc.

9. Entry is open (There is no need to collect Invitation Pass). No bag is allowed within the IGCC premises during the programme.
