H.E. HIGH COMMISSIONER’S INTERACTION WITH AWARDEES OF MUKTIJODDHA SCHOLARSHIP FOR THE YEAR 2019-2020

On 20 Jul 2020, H.E. Riva Ganguly Das, the High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh interacted with nine students who received Nutan India-Bangladesh Maitree Muktijoddha Sontan Scholarship for the year 2019-2020.

The Noutan India-Bangladesh Maitree Muktijoddha Sontan Scholarship was started by Govt of India in 2017 for the descendents of Muktijoddhas and a total a 3621 students have been awarded the scholarship till last year. Students of the HSC level get a onetime grant of Tk 20,000 and those at UG level are awarded a onetime grant of Tk 50,000. For the year 2019-2020,
a total of 1925 students were awarded the scholarship out of which 1000 students belong to UG level and 925 to HSC level.

During the interaction, the High Commissioner emphasized the historical legacy of fighting and winning the Liberation War together and offered gratitude towards the indomitable spirit of the Muktijoddhas. The High Commissioner further remembered the eternal sacrifices of the martyrs of both Bangladesh and India. During her interaction with the students the High Commissioner advised all the students on the importance of education and encouraged the recipients of the scholarship to strive harder to achieve excellence in the field of education.

The students, during their interaction, thanked the Government of India and HCI, Dhaka for grant of scholarships to the meritorious students. The students further amplified that the disbursement of scholarship at the time of COVID-19 pandemic has been a great assistance towards fulfilling the requirements of their higher education.

The High Commissioner also conveyed her gratitude to the Hon’ble Minister of Liberation War Affairs and members of his esteemed Ministry for partnering with HCI, Dhaka to identify and select the candidate for the scholarship scheme.
