     High Commission of India in collaboration with State Bank of India organized the issuance of the 15th lakh Indian visa in Bangladesh for the year 2019. The event was organized at Indian Visa Application Center Jamuna Future Park, Dhaka on 31 December 2019.

2. To mark the event, High Commissioner Smt. Riva Ganguly Das handed over the 1500000, 1500001 and 1500002 visa to three valiant Muktijoddhas - Mr. Md Shafiqul Islam, Mr. Noor Mohammed Mallik and Mr. Mohammed Atiar Rahman. In view of Government of India’s efforts to enhance people-to-people contact and liberalization of the visa system, the number of visas issued has increased from around 6.5 lakhs in 2014 to 13.8 lakhs in 2017 and 14.47 lakhs in 2018. 

3. In her speech, the High Commissioner explained the steps taken to liberalise the visa system, opening of new IVACs in 2019 thereby raising the total IVACs in Bangladesh to 15 and that any applicant from anywhere in Bangladesh can now submit their applications in any of these 15 IVACs. During the event , the High Commissioner also thanked our outsourced partner State Bank of India for their efforts.
