Distinguished members of Hindu community present here today;

Friends from media,

Ladies and Gentlemen!

Shubho nabobarsho!

I am delighted to be among our friends in Dhakeshwari Temple today, particularly at the beginning of Bangabdo 1426. It is befitting that I have come to seek the blessings of Maa Dhakeshwari today.

Like the people of Bangladesh, Dhakeshwari temple holds a special significance for us too - Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the temple during his visit to Dhaka in June 2015. Since then all visiting Cabinet Ministers and high dignitaries from India have visited the temple during their visit to Dhaka.

The High Commission has been closely associated with the Dhakeshwari temple. We celebrate festivals together - I look forwarded to be part of the Durga Puja celebrations.  For us, this temple and the persons associated with it are the real barometer to give indication of well-being of the Hindu community in Bangladesh. I am particularly affection of the community towards the age-old traditions and culture.

The Puja Festival in Bangladesh is getting bigger every year. Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad and Mohanagar Sarbajanin Puja Committee have been deeply involved with the puja celebration all over Bangladesh. It binds the community together.  Last few months have been one of the decisive in the recent history of this temple and with the blessings of the presiding deity of this temple, the remaining issues are also expected to be sorted out. The perseverance of those associated with this issue needs to be applauded.

I appreciate the contribution of present and previous leadership of both organizations to take care of not only puja festivals but other issues of general well-being of the community. My colleagues and I look forward to closely working with you.

Once again, I would like to thank for hosting this event and providing an opportunity to meet you all. May I take the opportunity to wish you all once again a very happy 1426.

Namaskar!
